MEDIA ADVISORY
Transport Action to release VIA Rail revival plan in St. Marys

At the invitation of the Save VIA citizens’ action committee, Transport Action will be releasing its nationwide blueprint for the revival of VIA Rail Canada in St. Marys, Ontario, on Friday, November 6 at 1:00pm. The event will be held at the municipally-owned St. Marys Station and is open to the media and the public.

The report, titled The VIA 1-4-10 Plan, demonstrates how the new federal government can turn VIA around and make it a modern, more frequent and highly useful public transportation service at a reasonable cost over a period of 10 years. The plan also outlines how improvements can be made to a number of VIA services – including those in Southwestern Ontario and on the North Main Line – within one year. The VIA 1-4-10 Plan was produced on behalf of Transport Action by transportation consultant and policy adviser Greg Gormick, who has also recently served as Save VIA’s campaign coordinator.

Join the report launch, meet the author and find out how the new government can revive VIA as an affordable and effective travel option for Southwestern Ontarians and travellers all across Canada.
